Mixed media : Wood, char, paint, lead and copper

Based on a traditional Japanese charring technique called Yakisugi. The wood blocks are transformed with flame in order to create fractured hardened surfaces. Blocks of wood are arranged in juxtaposed linear patterns reminiscent of landscapes or ancient structures.
